Mr. James Snyder, Israel

James Snyder is the Anne and Jerome Fisher Director of the Israel Museum. He was the former Deputy Director of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, a Loeb Fellow and is a graduate of Harvard University and a Loeb Fellow of Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.. Snyder is the author of Museum Design: Planning and Building for Art (Oxford University,1993) and RENEWED: The Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Campus Renewal Project (Israel Museum, 2011). He is the recipient of the Commendatore dell’Ordine della Stella della solidarietà italiana (Italy), the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France), and of the Teddy Kollek Award for Significant Contribution to Jerusalem. In 2012, he was made an ‘Honorary Citizen of Jerusalem,” and, in 2013, he became a “Guardian of Zion.”
